Please join us for an engaging presentation on new cases and developments in federal practice, presented by one of the nation’s leading authorities on federal civil procedure. Federal trial attorney, author, and civil procedure professor James Wagstaffe will speak on the topic of “Home Run Motions in Federal Court.”

The presentation will address very recent case law and developments on dispositive motions in federal court (standing including Spokeo developments, subject matter jurisdiction issues, including removal and remand, personal jurisdiction and the new Ford Motor case, venue/transfer motions including Atlantic Marine developments, 12(b)(6) motions with focus on Twombly/Iqbal matters, summary judgment (Celotex) and a little Erie-based issues). The materials focus on governing cases from the 7th Circuit and tips for addressing such motions.

Mr. Wagstaffe is the author of the oft-cited The Wagstaffe Group Fed. Prac. Guide: Civil Procedure Before Trial (currently available for purchase online and included in the Federal Courts contract), and he is a frequent teacher and presenter to federal judges across the nation.
