The Honorable Jorge L. Alonso has served as a state and federal trial judge for more than twelve years. He has been a federal judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois since December 2014, after he was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. From 2003 to 2014, he was an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where he regularly presided over felony trials in the Criminal Division. Prior to taking the bench, he was an assistant public defender in the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender for more than eleven years. Judge Alonso earned his B.A. from the University of Miami and his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School.
